ZTA Philanthropy: Think PINK!
The national philanthropy of Zeta Tau Alpha is Breast
Cancer Research and Education. In 1992, Zeta Tau Alpha
adopted the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
as the Fraternity's national philanthropy, but at
the 1996 International Convention, the Fraternity
voted to increase ZTA's support of breast cancer awareness
by backing all organizations committed to breast cancer
research, education, screening, and treatment.
All of the money that is raised by collegiate and alumnae chapters, through events like our annual Run For Life, is gathered into a giant national fund called the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation (ZTAF), which grosses nearly $1 million bi-annually. The money from the ZTAF is distributed to a variety of Breast Cancer charities that support Breast Cancer Research and Education. A large portion of the money that the ZTAF raises is donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
What makes the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation possible and successful are the many collegiate and alumnae chapters who donate their time, money, and support to this cause. It is through our determination, endless promotions, and the support of our communities, that allows us to donate so much to the ZTAF.
To promote Breast Cancer Awareness and raise money to donate to the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation our chapter puts on its annual Run For Life. It is because of this event that our chapter was able to donate $13,700 to the foundation last year. At the Run for Life, runners can honor Breast Cancer victims or survivors by wearing their names on the back of their shirt.
Think Pink © is a patent trademark of Zeta Tau Alpha. The use of this patent also raises money for Breast Cancer research and education. To raise money, we also collect Yoplait lids and send them to the ZTA Foundation.
